Secretary General of ENEMO signed the contract with the EUD Ambassador to Armenia

Yerevan, 21 November 2018, Press Conference – Head of the ENEMO International Observation Mission for the Parliamentary Elections in the Republic of Armenia (ENEMO) participated in the Press Conference organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia. Piotr ?witalski, the EU Ambassador to Armenia and the representatives of three Civil Society Organizations, among which is ENEMO, hosted this event to publicize the signature of three new grant contracts.

The EU Ambassador has announced new EU-funded projects geared towards enhanced civic engagement and oversight, which are indispensable elements of a democratic electoral process.

Before signing the contract with the EUD Ambassador, Secretary-General of ENEMO who is also Head of the ENEMO Mission to Armenia, Zlatko Vujovic has presented the project “ENEMO International Observation Mission for the Parliamentary Elections in the Republic of Armenia”. As he explained, ENEMO is organization consisting of 21 leading election monitoring organizations in their countries and one of the initiators of signatories of international code of conduct.

“We are observing almost every month elections somewhere in the region where we are. Actually now, it is not just that we are observing election only in our countries as member organizations, but we are conducting parallel mission in Moldova and soon we will conduct mission in Ukraine which shows our capacities”, said Vujovic.

He pointed out that regarding this project, ENEMO is going to conduct international observation mission using international standards. This project aims to support Armenia’s efforts to harmonize the Armenian electoral framework with international standards and recommendations and providing citizens and civil society information from an observation mission. ENEMO will conduct an overall assessment of the pre- and post-electoral process, in line with international standards for election observations.

ENEMO launched activities in the beginning of November 2018 and the observation mission will stay in Armenia and depart in mid-January 2019. ENEMO has accredited 6 Core Team members, 8 Long-Term Observers (LTOs) and 60 Short-Term Observers (STOs) for the upcoming early parliamentary elections.
