Kyiv, February 13, 2019 – The Head of ENEMO Election Observation Mission in Ukraine Mr. Zlatko Vujovic met with the Head of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine (CEC) Ms. Tetiana Slipachuk. Mr. Vujovic discussed with Head of CEC various aspects of ENEMO’s extensive election observation experience.
During the meeting the issue of voting rights of internally displaced persons was raised by Mr. Zlatko Vujovic. Head of CEC assured Mr. Vujovic that all measures were taken by the CEC to simplify the process of voting of IDPs during presidential election.
Mr. Vujovic expressed regrets over impossibility to employ Russian observers during presidential elections. He emphasized the fact that Russians that ENEMO was planning to deploy were dissidents in their own country and it would have been beneficial for them to be engaged in election observation process in Ukraine.
Also, representatives of the Central Election Commission informed ENEMO about peculiarities of voting procedure in diplomatic missions of Ukraine abroad. The same principles for international observers as on Ukrainian territory are applied.
In regard to security issues, Head of CEC informed ENEMO Head that the Commission stays in continuous contact with Security service of Ukraine to secure the voting in areas close to the occupied territories of Donbass and annexed Crimea. Parties agreed to cooperate during the period of deployment of ENEMO Mission.
